Research funding

RIGT funds research to support our research aims (see our Research Strategy) and to build capacity for gambling research within the British research community. 

We offer a variety of funding opportunities over and above commissioning research. These are subject to availability of funds. The requirements for the various forms of funding differ, so if you are applying please make sure to read the instructions carefully.

All research to be funded by RIGT must clearly demonstrate its relationship to our aims and objectives, as set out in our RIGT Strategy and Research Strategy. Furthermore, we require all projects to involve relevant stakeholders early and throughout to make sure that research addresses key questions and concerns. This will have to be demonstrated in applications.

Every year, we fund a number of intermediate research projects up to a value of £25,000. We support small research projects, conference attendances and other work up to a value of £5,000. Click here for application instructions.

PhD funding

The PhD Projects 2008 is still open to applicants. The deadline for applications is 25th July 2008.

RIGT has already funded six PhD studentships. We aim to award two three-year awards each year, up to a value of £45,000 over three years. For any further information on this funding scheme please contact phd@rigt.org.uk.
